Motifs (make 3)

Rnd 1: Make magic circle/adjustable ring, ch 2, work 12 dc in ring, sl st to first dc to join – 12 dc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, *ch 2, sc in next st (small loop made); rep from * 10 more times around, ch 2, sl st to first sc to join – 12 small loops.
Rnd 3:
Ch 1, sc in small loop, *ch 4, sk to next small loop, sc in small loop (large loop made); rep from * 10 more times around, ch 4, sl st to first sc to join – 12 large loops.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, (2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) in each large loop around, sl st to first sc to join.

Fasten off leaving a tail measuring at least 6”. This tail will be used to attach the motifs together.  Weave in starting tail of each motif.

Block motifs to 2.67” across. Lay the motifs together and flat so that the middle two points of the center motif is lined up with the middle two points of the motif on either side. Using the tails, sew the 3 motifs together at these points.

Begin making the bands. You will attach the joined motifs to the bands at Row 4.

Bands (make 2, one for the top and one for the bottom)

Ch 46.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, ch 1, turn – 45 sc.

Rows 2-3: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn – 45 sc.

Row 4: *Sc in next 4 sts, ch 2, ch 1 while inserting the hook into the first open motif end point, joining it to the band, ch 2, sc in next 4 sts, ch 1, ch 1 while inserting the hook into the 2nd open motif end point, joining it to the band, ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, ch 1, ch 1 while inserting the hook into the 3rd open motif end point, joining it to the band, ch 1, sc in next 4 sts, ch 2, ch 1 while inserting the hook into the 4th open motif end point thus joining it to the band, ch 2; repeat from * twice more with the remaining 2 motifs.

Fasten off leaving a tail measuring at least 6”. This tail will be used to stitch the bands together. Repeat for the opposite side.

Finishing

If needed, block the motifs and the bands. The final length should be 8” flat so when joined, the sleeve will fit snugly over the jelly jar. Form sleeve by joining the last two motif points. Slip sleeve onto the jelly jar, sew the band ends together.

Weave in any remaining ends, add a tea light candle and enjoy! yarn ball
