Pattern Notes
The bottom of the basket is worked flat in rows. Turning chains do not count as stitches.
The sides of the basket are worked in the round. The basket rounds are worked in a continuous spiral. Do not join and do not turn the work.
The inner layer of the basket is stitched first, then the outer layer is stitched. The black seeds are added to the inner layer and then the two layers are stitched together.
Pattern
Outer Layers
With MC, ch 13.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1 and turn – 12 sc.
Row 2: Sc in each st across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 3: 2 Sc in first st and in each st across until 1 st rem, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 and turn – 14 sc.
Row 4: Sc in each st across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 5: 2 Sc in first st and in each st across until 1 st rem, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 and turn – 16 sc.
Row 6: Sc in each st across, ch 1 and turn.
Row 7: 2 Sc in first st and in each st across until 1 st rem, 2 sc in last st, ch 1 and turn – 18 sc.
Row 8: Sc in each st across, ch 1 and turn.

Begin working in rounds in a continuous spiral. Do not join and do not turn. Mark the beginning of each round. When changing colors, do not break off yarn. Carry yarn along the inside. The carried strands will be hidden when the Inner Layer of the basket is attached.
Round 1: Sc in each st from Row 35, sc in the side of each of the 35 rows, sc into each st of the beginning chain, sc in the side of each of the 35 rows – 94 sc.
Round 2: *Sc-ch 1 in st, sk next st; repeat from * around – 47 sc-ch 1.
Going forward, all sc are worked in the ch-1 sp from the previous round.
Round 3: *Sc-ch 1 in sp, sk next st; repeat from * around, changing to C1 on last sc-ch 1 – 47 sc-ch 1.
Round 4: *Sc-ch 1 in sp, sk next st; repeat from * around – 47 sc-ch 1.
Round 5: *Sc-ch 1 in sp, sk next st; repeat from * around, changing, to MC on last sc-ch 1 – 47 sc-ch 1.
Rounds 6-7: *Sc-ch 1 in sp, sk next st; repeat from * around – 47 sc-ch 1.

Inner Layer
With C2, work Rows 1-35 as for Outer Layer.
Begin working in rounds in a continuous spiral. Do not join and do not turn. Mark the beginning of each round.
Round 1: Sc in each st from Row 35, sc in the side of each of the 35 rows, sc into each st of the beginning chain, sc in the side of each of the 35 rows – 94 sc.
Rounds 2-11: Sc in each st around.
After Round 11 only, sl st join to first in round. Fasten off.
Finishing
With approximately 2 yards of black yarn, stitch the seeds on the Inner Layer of the basket.
For both the Inner and Outer Layers, work in all loose ends except for the yarn attached from Round 13 of the Outer Layer. Set the Inner Layer into the Outer Layer. With the Outer Layer facing, sc in each around working under the loops from Round 13 of the Outer Layer and the loops of Round 11 of the Inner Layer. Sl st to join to first st in round. Fasten off and work in last end. Enjoy!
